General

Simple - The easiest way to buy and sell data. Our streamlined data transfers and simplified fees are just a few examples of how easy it is to use Heapery.

Claiming Data - Only verified sellers may claim ownership of datasets. Our Data Audit team verifies that each dataset listing is being sold by the actual owner of the dataset and holds the rights to any relevant copyright.

Control Your Data - Sellers get to choose if their dataset can be resold on the marketplace. A seller may select any of the Heapery Copyright Licenses, which allow the seller to have complete control of how their dataset is used, sold and who is permitted to sell the dataset. Additionally, our Verification Pipeline ensures that no identical (or very similar) datasets may enter the marketplace.

Secure - Our payment gateway (Stripe) is secured by TLS (SSL), and is PCI SP Level 1 compliant. Payments and datasets are encrypted using 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256).

Transparent Pricing - 12.8% + $0.30 fee for products sold. That is our only fee, period. No hosting, membership, or listing fees.
Due to the nature of downloadable products, we encourage our sellers to determine their own refund policies.

In the case of products which were falsely advertised, we reserve the right to issue a refund within 60 days of purchase.

This is not an exhaustive list of marketplace restrictions. Heapery holds the right to monitor marketplace content for violations. We may reject a user’s submitted content to protect our community, users, and reputation. If these restrictions are violated, the user will be permanently banned. We may report content that we suspect violates any law or regulation to law enforcement officials.

No. Once a dataset is listed on the marketplace, that seller gains the sole authority to be the only user who can sell that dataset. The seller retains complete control over their dataset.
The seller’s ownership remains until the seller either deletes the listing from the marketplace, or decides that they no longer want sole ownership. At which point, the ‘slot’ on the marketplace atlas becomes available for any other seller to claim the dataset and begin selling it.

We take all ownership violation claims and attribution violation claims seriously. All report investigations are lead by our Data Auditing team. If a seller is found to be in violation of an attribution policy or has falsely claimed ownership of data, the dataset will immediately be removed. Depending on the severity of the violation, the seller may be banned from the marketplace.
Once a dataset has been removed, its absence on the marketplace allows for the rightful owner to begin selling that dataset.
Please [Contact Us] to report a seller. We will open an investigation, and you will be provided a ticket number.

Seller’s Fee: 12.8% + $0.30 fee for products sold. That is our only fee, period. No hosting, membership, or listing fees.

No. We do not engage in the sale or transfer of information regarding our visitors or users.

No. Heapery is a platform for buyer-seller interactions. Heapery, and its owners, do not have any ownership of the datasets on the marketplace.

Sellers

Sellers control how their datasets are used on the Heapery Marketplace. Heapery licenses allow you, the seller, to determine if your dataset can be resold by other users, or if you keep exclusive rights to sell the dataset.

Heapery-Private - Other users are not permitted to sell or distribute the work in any form on the Heapery Marketplace. You, the seller/creator, are the only user allowed to sell or distribute the work. This license can be revoked if you decide to change the license type, or if you remove the work from the Heapery Marketplace (at which time any user may claim the exclusive right to sell the work).

Heapery-Attribution - Other users may sell, distribute and modify your work, even commercially, as long as you, the seller/creator, is given credit.

Heapery-Public - The creator surrenders copyright and attribution rights for your work. Other users may modify and distribute the work, including commercially, and are not required to credit the original creator. This license is irreversible once the work enters the Heapery Marketplace.

At the moment, Heapery supports individual dataset listings up to n GB. Please [Contact Us] if you’d like to sell a dataset larger than n GB.

Yes, Heapery isn’t limited to just raw data. We encourage our sellers to offer their analytical reports, visualizations, and implementations.
