sCast is a seasonal forecast developed by AER monthly for the next three months (for example, in Dec 2018 we forecast for Jan, Feb, and Mar 2019). Providing detailed insight for North America, Europe and Asia, our forecasts are unlike other seasonal forecasts. AER uses a unique initialization to its climate model using a combination of El Niño and temperature trends, snow cover from key parts of the world, and the North Atlantic Oscillation and Arctic Oscillation patterns. This provides a more complete indication of the overall forcing and delivers more accurate seasonal forecasting than typical models that incorporate only ocean-based factors in predicting seasonal climate.
