Times Square, 1,000 Ground-Level Images from Feb 2020

Explore the physical world with the most up-to-date ground-level imagery in existence. Use the images to remotely and instantly monitor crowded areas, key infrastructure, construction zones among many other applications.

This data set is powered by Nexar, the world’s safe driving network.

Nexar dash cams protect drivers on the road. They automatically record and save footage directly to the driver’s phone, detect dangerous events and produce evidence reports. We extract images and insights from the footage and upload to the cloud. Frames that are uploaded to the Nexar network are anonymised. Human faces and license plates are blurred and footage can’t be traced back to the recording driver.

This data set contains 1000 Ground-Level Imagery collected from Times Square in NYC during 18-20 February 2020. The exact area is enclosed in polygon formed by polygon formed by (40.762035, -73.986898), (40.755958, -73.991213), (40.753348, -73.984690), (40.762035, -73.986898).

This data set allows users to get on-demand visual insights into what’s happening with key areas of interest and can be used for a number of applications:
– Improve asset planning and design; With fresh visual data from your roads, you can better monitor & plan changes to your roadway inventory.
– Have an up to date view of assets which can provide insights e.g. activity outside a business, or the state of a real estate asset.
– Understand the impact and change of activity in a certain area based on external factors (e.g. holidays, COVID-19, weather etc.).
– Understand how park spaces are being used and which neighbourhoods could use some extra pedestrian space.

Image are provided in a jpg format and complimentary data is also provided detailing image timestamp and localisation (GPS coordinates).
