For US locations, the baseline for detailed soil data is SSURGO, for the rest of the world the baseline is ISRIC. While those sources are available directly, the purpose of the Teralytic Global Soil Data is to bring the best soil focused datasets from across the world into a common format that is easy to query and consume. As other sources are identified, they are being incorporated making the Teralytic Global Soil Dataset a unique resource. The dataset will also be extended in future releases to incorporate observed data from sources such as soil lab data, remote sensor based data, then synthesized with climate, weather station, NVDI, and ML models for inferences and predictions. This data will be useful for agriculture, watershed management, government forecasting, etc.
Some of the roles also able to benefit from this dataset include:
– Agronomists
– Agronomic Research Groups
– AgTech Companies
– Universities
– Landscape Architects
– Architects
– Civil Engineers
– Planners
– Land Developers
– Data Scientists
