The recovery metrics in Neighborhood Insights aims to describe changes in traffic with focus on traffic recovering back to normal/expected levels. It currently does so through these metrics:
Traffic compared to last year
Trend adjusted difference in traffic from previous years. The difference is expressed as percentage increase/decrease from the baseline.
Slope
Medium Term Trend estimated on the weekly percentage difference over 4 weeks. A positive value signals a closing of the gap between traffic trends this year vs prior year.
Momentum
The short term momentum of weekly percentage difference. It indicates if a trend is still active recently or a trend reversal is possibly developing.
Recovered
Binary flag indicating if a census block group is considered “recovered”. The recovery goal is met if a week can be observed that is very similar to the baseline one year prior. The flag can be lost again if it no longer meets the criteria for “recovered”.
